I think we couldn’t open the windows which was a bummer for climate control

Surprisingly pleased with how much space we had - I was expecting a tiny hotel room, but we had more than enough space, even with four bags (2 large, 2 carry on, and backpacks too!). The shower pressure was great, and I loved that the hotel had a water tap in the lobby we could use to fill up a water jug for the room. Also, they gave us a small bottle of sake when we said we didn’t need cleaning services during our stay.

The staff at Hotel GOCO are wonderful. They were eager to help at all times. There are also a lot of travel resources in the lobby. The location can't be beat. It's off the main road (Kawaramachi Street) and about a block away from Nishiki Market. Surprisingly, it was still quiet and restful.

Our room was labeled "small double" and it was. There wasn't room to put both pieces of luggage and there was no storage space. This made moving around the room difficult. This seems to be pretty standard in Japan, as most hotels we stayed at were similar.

We had asked to have rooms close together and they could not accommodate that, but it was perfectly fine. Yoshi was so helpful with mapping out a route for us for one of our days. He also gave suggestions on restaurants and places to buy specific items we were looking for. We would highly recommend!

Booked on our last day in japan and it was Amazing. The cheapest and the best quality of our entire trip. They have updated security and give many recommendations for restaurants, bars and activities around the area for any time of day.

Fabulous location, and the owner is so kind, attentive and thoughtful. We received tons of useful recommendations about the area, sights and subway. The hotel is clean and comfortable and has everything you need for a stay in beautiful Kyoto.

The hotel facilities were very well maintained. Although the room was a bit small, it had all the conveniences necessary to make our stay very comfortable. It was really nice having a washing machine in the room, and the shower/drying closet was exceptional. The property is situated between the major shopping area-Nishiki Market, Teramachi Street, and Shijo Kawaramachi. Public transportation was easily accessible to all parts of Kyoto. We would definitely recommend Hotel GOCO as the place to stay in Kyoto.

If there are any negatives, they would be that the area around the bed in our room (401) was quite limited and there is little space for luggage. There is also very limited space for hanging clothes.

We had a great stay at Hotel Goco. The location is right in the middle of the touristy area by Nishiki market. At first we were unsure, as it was a much busier area than we expected, but it was great to be so central off of the main train lines and bus lines. The hotel itself is great. It's on the smaller side but the room was very large, with a kitchenette and a washer which was needed for our two week trip using only carryon luggage. The dryer is an excellent, efficient system you easily set up in the shower. The bed was comfortable and we requested softer pillows which the staff quickly got us. The staff was so lovely and happy to give recommendations for restaurants and directions for transportion. We had absolutely no complaints and greatly enjoyed our stay!

The staff was fabulous. The location was superb. It even had a washer in the room which is unheard of in Japan. I wish I would have booked it for my entire trip.
